Carey Mulligan is, by all accounts, a lovely and down-to-earth leading lady.
Splitting her time between London and Devon with her musician husband Marcus Mumford and two children, as well as working with the charity War Child, the 33 year-old Brit seems to have her feet planted firmly on there ground, despite her multiple nominations for SAGs, BAFTAs, Golden Globes and more.
In an interview with , Mulligan name checked none-other than fellow Londoner Keira Knightley as being the reason she strives to be such a grounded Hollywood star.
The pair first acted together in the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Despite being the same age, Mulligan famously played Knightley’s younger sister, a character called Kitty.
Mulligan explained, ‘Keira had been in Pirates of the Caribbean, and she was unbelievably famous. I didn’t need to put this into practice until years later, but she was the model of how to be a leading actress on set.
'She was brilliant, but she was also so kind and so sweet, and it sort of removed the possibility in the future of there being any excuse for being anything but lovely.’
They also went onto to act in Never Let Me Go opposite Andrew Garfield.
Knightley similarly has married a British musician, James Righton of The Klaxons, and lives in London with her small family.
Not a bad role model, eh?
