Here she takes us through the routines, dramas and minuate of her life.
5 weeks until the wedding. FIVE WEEKS.
Lost a pound and a half at Slimming World and could have snogged the lady as she told me.
Am particularly thrilled because I’ve really been pushing it on the Ferrero Rocher. Bought another box over the weekend. Wasn’t even on offer. Must stay away from them, don’t want the ambassador to be my downfall. Came home to realise I’d missed a parcel. Chased the postman down the road who seemed more delighted than I was to hand over the package. Must be very disappointing when people aren’t in.
Revelation at June’s this week. She thought Dave the cat was 18, turns out he’s 20. she bought him a carton of cat milk to celebrate. And because “he needs the nutrients.” Decided now the weather has turned, to go and get every single piece of clothing, hat glove and scarf I own out of storage. Made Jon come and help me bring it all home in giant laundry bags. The sort Dot Cotton always had in Eastenders. Very sturdy. Unfortunately by the time we cooked dinner and watched Bake Off had rather lost the momentum to go through it all so left them in the middle of the floor to trip over in the morning.
Am drowning in wedmin. It’s wall to wall emails about flowers, floorplans, evening food and calligraphy. So many emails. Had to pass one about music choices to be played by the violin/ cello duo as people arrive on to June. She came back with concern about the toilets and could we look into getting a few orchids “to cheer things up a bit” I pointed out orchids are very difficult to maintain but June felt this was irrelevant. Have never needed Ferrero Rocher more but settled with an apple. It was not even slightly the same.
The wifi has broken. Completely gone. Won’t even try to connect. Couldn’t face ringing Virgin to be told to turn it on and off again so decided to unpack the storage bags. So many coats. Hundreds of them. It’s like an illness. And yet no jumpers. Wondering what I wore for the whole of last winter. Couldn’t have been surviving on one glitzy Christmas number. Must go shopping for knitwear. How thrilling. Found some long lost pink jeans and am very pleased to say I can fit back into them. Couldn’t get them past my knees a year ago. Also to my delight, found a brand new pair of Sheepers slippers which I squirreled away at the start of the summer. Put them on immediately and haven’t taken them off since.
Had an absolutely massive splurge in Oliver Bonas. In fact went to three different Oliver Bonas shops to gather all the items I’d seen online. Was like a knitwear pilgrimage. Bought new jazzy socks as well. Also realised this morning that I hate my makeup bag and life is too short to use a makeup bag you hate so bought a new furry one with eyes. I shall call him Harry. Also bought another coat. Ridiculous. Went to see A Star is Born. Cried a lot and slightly louder than was appropriate in the cinema. Fortunately the lady next to me was also in bits and offered me a tissue. Lady Gaga is a genius. Celebrated her performance with sausage and mash for tea.
PLANS FOR THE WEEKEND:
- Watch A Star is Born again
- Do a sock cull
- Buy orchids
- Do a coat cull
- Keep orchids alive
